Lanta 5: Eyes of Bitana
Sidakreeth Dominates the Drow
But neither of these two returned. It was a new and just as serious threat, the drow goddess, Lolth. It seems the spider queen had had enough of the deity Blaine (he has also been called Aerion since ascending to god) living on her plane and decided to hit him where it hurt the most: his followers. What happened in the Abyss is speculation, but most think this is what happened. The demonic drow Sidakreeth was either an accident or Lolth created him to invade Lantafinsayf. Either way, she gave him no army and plane shifted him down into the underdark of Lanta where he came across the drow city of Evascal (Ev-uh-scahl). From the way the city looked when the famous hunting party “Sunlight” reached it during the Dark Surge, most think Sidakreeth attacked the head family, Kolkirn (coal-keern), and killed all but the daughters of the family’s mother. The seven daughters were most likely hypnotized into serving him and he used them to control the rest of the families. Once he controlled the entire city, he moved onto the next.
While moving from city to city, he did not just kill all the mindflayers and underdark creatures he came across. He would mutilate them and paint the walls with their remains. The party Sunlight thought it may have been Sidakreeth’s way of navigating the underdark. But when they tried to decipher them, Sunlight lost their way and abandoned the theory. As Sidakreeth reached the other four large drow cities of Efolish (eh-foe-lish), Methandis (meth-ann-dis), Tylekiminel (tie-leh-kim-in-el), and Rovinsa (roe-vince-uh) he would surround them and start the attack by tying up the farmers on the top layers and then throw them down onto the wealthier citizens below. He would then use magic to collapse the end of the caves that the drows were living in, forcing them to escape out into the center of the city. The green ooze that dripped from Sidakreeth’s skin was found in almost every section of the city, letting most think he joined in the fighting and maybe hunted down specific drow; with Lolth as his guide, the theory was very reasonable. Tylekiminel was the first city he tried to take, and the look of the city now shows it was the hardest to defeat. Sunlight believed that maybe half the population was killed, including the head family and a good number of the warriors. But once he had taken one city, he could now take the others.
He moved to Methandis, Efolish, and then finally Rovinsa, which lay just under Lish Hom Non (home to ten different families of dragons). With the major cities under his reign, he telepathically threatened all the smaller settlements into moving to one of them. Once there, they waited for his next set of instructions. The dwarves, the only ones who really monitored the drow, said that during this time the drow were completely inactive. Those who stumbled upon them and lived said their skin looked as though lightning was crackling underneath it and the sound of their rhythmic breathing was deafening. With all the drow in place, Sidakreeth made his first move. He took an unknown amount of drow and headed to the caves of Lish Hom Non.
