Lanta 5: Eyes of Bitana
The War on Continent Briom
Briom had by far the most casualties. The drow had come through the mountains in the Notelex Region and ran straight through three highly populated dwarven underground cities. Hundreds fled to the surface to warn of the threat and those that stayed behind prepared to fight. It is said that Moradin was the first to aid Lanta by blessing the dwarves of Notelex with luck. Once again, the collapse of the caves had cost hundreds of drow before the battle even started. The drow had to fight their way through the rubble only to be greeted by raised picks and hammers that came down on every hand and face that came through. Some of the dwarves on the front lines became insane after the war from the amount of lives they had taken. The situation worsened as paths were eventually burrowed around the dwarves’ front line. Once the drow entered the city, the orders of those in command were ignored as every inexperienced dwarven fighter fought for himself and Moradin. The dwarves killed just as many as they lost, but the number of drow were far greater.
Those that came to the surface headed straight for Kreeom where fighters of all races, even drow, were accepted. As information reached the heads of the military, they assessed the situation and thought that the demons had returned in the name of either Roma or Brama. Though they were wrong, it did not matter. Kreoom’s miners were ordered to collapse every passageway heading to the three cities and men on horses were sent to Mooreen, Sareem, and even to the northern city of Cassalwolf. The queen of Notelex, Ladais Ilsevet (luh-day-ss ill-seh-vet), had known what warring between allies could do; her great great grandfather Venkelos Ilsevet had seen Raven and Brama fight and Blaine and Ki fight. She was not going to have Briom’s northern and southern halves be split for this war. It was a good thing too. When the drow broke through, more than a month later, some had detoured all the way up to the Chaimeran Mountains near Cassalwolf.
Like all other places the drow had burst out off, Briom entered a state of chaos. Cassalwolf had seen some deranged enemies in its history, but the avalanche of dark elves coming from the mountain tops gave even the most experienced warriors an uneasy feeling. The two largest cities on Briom, Mooreen and Sareem, did no preparation and sent soldiers to Kreeom, expecting to fight normal drow. The mages in Cassalwolf quickly sent word of the drow coming out of the Chaimerins north of them and so the reserves of Mooreen split up again into an offense and defense. One fourth of the soldiers marched north as an attack/scouting party in the hopes to learn more about the enemy. Meanwhile, the armies of Mooreen, Sareem, and Kreoom that had gathered in the Notelex Region prepared for the larger army of drow. When they came through, they first came out in a wild frenzy, catching all off guard. But somehow, they had “transformed” back into the normal drow. As they exited the caves, soldiers could see the lighting that was rolling through their skin for a split second before the sun dispelled it, but they also lost their barbarian rage. The training of the soldiers served them well, despite that none of them had known the barbaric drow the other continents were facing..
